Physical Education and Health Programs
The benefits of physical activity for young children cannot be overstated. In addition to the physical education classes, students enjoy recess and extra outside time at lunch weather permitting. The more opportunities children have to be physically active, the better they will be able to focus within the classroom.
In addition to focusing on aerobic activity, team sports, and strength training, the elementary students also have a weekly health class. The Health curriculum covers topics such as nutrition, hygiene, and positive self image.
Brain Gym
To compliment its P.E. Program, Yorkshire has adopted many Brain Gym® exercises which are easy to do and the students love.
Brain Gym refers to exercises and activities which recall the movements naturally done during the first years of life when learning to coordinate the eyes, ears, hands, and whole body.
